Ah, mornings. On good days they’re the “me time” you desperately need. On bad days, they’re something to muscle through.

Never fear: this morning yoga routine from Jessica Schatz will get you ready to face the day, no matter how tired or unmotivated you are. Schatz, also known as “The Core Expert®️,” has trained celebs like Ashley Olsen. She even offered Pilates workouts to the cast of Hamilton during their San Diego tour stop.

“The morning is a pivotal time that can set the tone for the entire day, and choices you make upon waking can have a profound impact on your day—and your short- and long-term health,” Schatz says. “I have learned that beginning the day with movement—coupled with a consistent and conscious morning routine—is one of the most important things you can do to transform your life.”

The 40-minute routine combines elements of yoga and Pilates with an emphasis on building strength and flexibility. The core and the spine get special attention, as they help carry you through your day-to-day life.

“By beginning your day in a focused, centered, and energized fashion, you can feel more in control of your day—instead of your day controlling you,” Schatz says.

If you don’t have a full 40 minutes to spare for morning yoga, just do what you can. Every little bit helps!
